“No matter how many mistakes you make or how slow your progress, you’re still way ahead of everyone who isn’t trying.” Tony Robbins
Today was supposed to be my big announcement that my book is coming out in six weeks and it’s so exciting and everyone sign up here to review it and pre-order it and it’s about to be the next Twilight phenomenon and…and I think you get the drift.
But that’s not what I have to say today. Life happens. Sometimes you invite it in and sometimes it barges in unannounced but either way it has a way of taking over.
This week I decided to wait on throwing my book into the wild wild world. I hate admitting this but I won’t have it ready in time.
Perhaps being honest is a good way to start. Telling you my plans and admitting when they don’t happen. Writing about what I’m thinking and planning and actually accomplishing – not a fantasy that isn’t real.
In six months I might look back and groan at my decisions, but you know what? Just because you failed doesn’t mean trying was the wrong thing to do. Not all choices are right but you have to try to learn. In failing I learned that I need more time. I learned that saying something is going to happen doesn’t mean it will. I learned that getting distracted takes your eyes out of focus.
But I’m excited. Very excited. Because what I learned will make it easier to succeed next time. And if I fail again, that’s okay. I’ll just learn something new so the next time I won’t.
Don’t let the fear of failure hold you back.
What would you start today if you knew you’d succeed?
